Stage Two of New Agriculture Building Complete – University of Reading
05 August 2001A ceremony will be held to mark the completion of Stage 2 of the New Agriculture Building at the University of Reading at noon on Thursday 12 July.
Since HRH Princess Royal officially opened Stage 1 of the new £11 million Agriculture Building in March 2000, stage 2 has now been completed. This will provide accommodation for much of the Agriculture Department, the Joint Faculty Undergraduate Office, as well as for the Staff Common Room, Conference Room, 2 further classrooms and offices for the British Grassland Society. It also houses the Centre for Agri- Environmental Research and seed and animal science laboratory suites supported by grants from the Wolfson and Sackler foundations.
The ceremony will also be an opportunity for the Chancellor, Lord Carrington to thank, in person, major contributors to the Appeal Fund represented by Lord Wolfson, on behalf of the University.
A further stage is planned as soon funds permit, which will provide laboratories and other facilities for those parts of (mainly) the Department of Agriculture (principally the Crop Protection Group and the Veterinary Epidemiology and Economics Research Unit) which remain in the Temporary Office Building dating from the Second World War.
