Dr Michael Tinker wins £50,000 excellence in teaching award – University of Reading

Dr Michael Tinker of the Department of Physics has won £50,000 in a prestigious national awards scheme for teaching. The National Teaching Fellowship Scheme (NTFS) is designed to recognise and reward individual lecturers or learning support staff who have demonstrated excellence in teaching. It is funded by the Higher Education Funding Council for England and the Department for Employment and Learning in Northern Ireland. Dr Tinker is one of is one of twenty lecturers in universities and colleges of higher education across England who have won in this year's competition. The winners, chosen by an advisory panel from 82 nominations, will each be awarded £50,000 to be used for projects that will make a significant contribution to learning and teaching.
