08 April 2003Top players descend on The University of Reading for squash tournament Several players from the professional circuit will be playing in The University of Reading graded squash tournament this weekend (12-13 April). Dan Jensen (world number 35), Stephen Meads (world number 34), Scott Handley (world number 80), Stacy Ross (world number 98) and women's world number 10 Fiona Geaves will be among those playing. This will be the fifth time the tournament has been run and has grown into one of the biggest graded tournaments in the country. The graded format means that players can grade themselves on their ability when they enter and individuals play in a competition against others of equal ability. This year there are five grades ranging from 'A' grade, in which national and international players will play, down to 'E' grade, which is entered by juniors and beginners to the game. The main aim of the tournament is to promote the benefits that graded competition brings to squash, attract high-level performers and to expose juniors, beginners and club players to international standard squash. The event attracts entries from as far afield as Bath, Sheffield and London. Spectators welcome, admission is free. Matches will run from Saturday 12 April 9am - 6.30pm and Sunday 13 April 10am - 6.30pm Press and photographers welcome CONTACT: Daniel McLaren The Wolfenden Sports Centre The University of Reading Whiteknights Campus Shinfield Road Reading RG1 3LS email Daniel McLaren tel: 0118 3786538
