RUMS holds Yuletide charity concerts – University of Reading
26 November 2003Santa Claus is coming to town and Reading University Music Society (RUMS) will be getting into the festive spirit with two seasonal concerts for charity. The University Singers kick off proceedings with the annual Advent Carol Service at St Mary's Church, The Butts, on Sunday, November 30 at 5pm. This service, being held to mark the beginning of Advent, is free but there will be a collection in aid of the Minster Restoration Fund. RUMS is holding its main Yuletide concert at Christ Church, Christchurch Road, on Wednesday, December 3 at 7.30pm. This seasonal concert will feature music by the University Singers, The Concert Band, The Jazz Band, The Gospel Choir and The Chamber Choir. Michelle Anthony, Director of the University Singers, said: 'There will be carols for the audience to join in with, so it should be a fun, Christmassy concert.' Being held in aid of The Leprosy Mission, tickets for the concert are £7, (£4 concessions) and £3 for RUMS members. (RUMS membership £10 for the 2003/2004 season - £5 for students). Tickets are only available on the door. End For further information, please contact Craig Hillsley, Press Officer, University of Reading, tel: (0118) 378 8005, e-mail: c.hillsley@yahoo.co.uk
