Discover the history of Sutton Seeds of Reading at the Museum of English Rural Life – University of Reading
08 September 2003The Museum of English Rural Life is opening its Reading Room on Saturday 27th September 2003 10am-4.30pm for members of the public to discover the history of Sutton Seeds of Reading. The event will consist of displays of photographs, catalogues, business records and films concerning Sutton Seeds with informal rolling talks from former employees Ron Butler and Gerry Westall. Caroline Gould, Archivist says "This is an opportunity for former employees and the community to discover this unique collection of archives relating to Suttons Seeds of Reading." The Reading Room will also be open on 13 September 2003 2pm -4.30pm as part of Heritage Open Days and 11th October 2003 10am-12.30pm on the theme of Weather Ways and WW2 featuring talks by Tim Wheeler and John Sephton. These events are organised as part of Archive Awareness Month September 2003. Over 450 events are being held throughout the UK and Ireland.
