Clearing at the University of Reading – University of Reading
13 August 2004Thursday is the big day for A-level students across the country. If you don't get the grades you need for the place you've been offered, the most important thing is not to panic. The Clearing system, which kicks into action on results day, means you still have the opportunity to try and get a place at University. If you're thinking of coming to Reading, or at least want to find out what courses we offer, then we have set up a Clearing Hotline for students who need advice about what to do next. The number is 0118 378 7878 and our specially trained staff will be manning the phones from 8am on results day. The times the hotline is open are: Thu 19 Aug (results day) 8.00am – 8.00pm Fri 20 Aug 8.00am – 6.00pm Sat 21 Aug 10.00am – 2.00pm Sun 22 Aug 10.00am – 2.00pm Mon 23 Aug 9.00am – 6.00pm Some people also find it helpful to visit the University, both so they can speak to people face-to-face and so they can get a better idea of what the campus looks like. If you would like to visit the University during Clearing, you will be very welcome. Opening times are as follows: Thu 19 Aug 10.00am – 5.00pm Fri 20 Aug 10.00am – 4.30pm Sat 21 Aug CLOSED Sun 22 Aug CLOSED Mon 23 Aug 10.00am – 5.00pm Tue 24 Aug 10.00am – 5.00pm Wed 25 Aug 10.00am – 4.00pm Thu 26 Aug 10.00am – 4.00pm Fri 27 Aug 10.00am – 4.00pm It's likely that we will have places available on certain courses at Reading, particularly in some of the more scientific subjects, including Chemistry, Environmental Sciences, Archaeology, Maths, Physics, Natural Science, IT, Cybernetics, Food Biosciences, Botany, Animal and Microbial Sciences, Applied Biology and Agriculture. But we also envisage there being places for modern foreign languages and teacher training.
