International business research boosted by new appointment – University of Reading

Professor Rajneesh NarulaThe University of Reading Business School is delighted to announce the appointment of Professor Rajneesh Narula as Professor of International Business Regulation. He takes up his post from July 2004. Professor Narula's areas of specialization include globalisation, technological change, economic development, R&D alliances, internationalization of innovation, innovation systems, theory of the MNE, and absorptive capacity. His most recent post was as Professor in the Department of International Economics and Management at Copenhagen Business School, where he was Academic Director of the highly successful MSc International Business programme. Previous roles include Professor at the Norwegian School of Management, Professorial Fellow at The Centre of Technology, Innovation and Culture at the University of Oslo, and Assistant Professor in International Business Studies at Maastricht University. Professor Narula has also served as a consultant to the United Nations Centre on Transnational Corporations, New York. His first job was as a maintenance consultant to the Nigerian Railway Corporation. He then served as an Aero-electronics Instructor at the College of Aviation Technology in Nigeria before embarking on academic life at Rutgers University, New Jersey, USA. Alongside his research and teaching functions, he qualified as an MBA, prior to pursuing his PhD with Professor John Dunning as his advisor. Professor Jim Pemberton, Head of the Business School, said: "I am delighted that Rajneesh is joining us. We are recognized as a world leader in research on international business. Rajneesh's appointment underlines our commitment to remaining at the cutting edge of work in this area, whose importance in an era of ever-stronger international competition is self evident."
