New Chair in English and American Literature appointed – University of Reading
14 June 2004Dr Peter Stoneley has been appointed as Chair in English and American Literature, in the University's School of English and American Literature, with effect from Wednesday 1 September, 2004. He is a graduate of the Universities of Wales and Oxford and he is joining Reading from a Readership in the School of English at Queen's University, Belfast. Dr Stoneley's main research interest is the American literary culture of the nineteenth century and his most recent book is Consumerism and American Girls' Literature, 1860-1940 (Cambridge University Press, 2003).
