Visit strengthens Reading's international links – University of Reading

Around 30 Commissioners and senior diplomats from countries as diverse as Brazil, Mozambique and China will be visiting The University of Reading on Tuesday 26 April to learn more about its research and teaching excellence, business outreach activities and ties with other institutions all around the world. It is hoped that the visit will help the University further develop its international links and foster the already diverse community of students from different backgrounds and countries. Of Reading's 15,000 students, around 3,000 come from overseas, with some 130 countries represented on campus. Over the next few years, the University is committed to increasing international student recruitment in order to nurture an ever-more stimulating academic environment. Caroline Nunnerley, Senior International Officer at the University, said: "The Diplomats' Day promises to be an exciting event as we are hopeful that it will generate and re-establish some really valuable links both for the University and the diplomats. "They will see the campus, meet some of our students from their countries, and get a feel for the campus, the personality of the University and what makes us so popular with international students." The guests will attend a programme of presentations, take a tour of the campus and attend a lunch hosted by the Vice-Chancellor Professor Gordon Marshall, senior management and senior academic staff.
