University caterers' recipe for success – University of Reading
22 April 2005A team from Residential and Commercial Services recently attended the Cost Sector Catering Awards Dinner, at which it was announced that the winner of the University/College Award 2005 was Nigel Monks, Assistant Director of Commercial Services. The Cost Sector Catering Awards are the pivotal point of the foodservice calendar. There is no other arena that offers foodservice caterers the chance to be judged by their peers and come through to win industry wide recognition as the best. To win one of the coveted award categories is the pinnacle of any executive's career and recognises the outstanding contribution made within the sector. It is the highest acknowledgement of merit that can be bestowed from within the foodservice industry. The three short-listed finalists were Ian White from University College Chester, Stuart Rutty from The University of Wolverhampton and Nigel Monks from The University of Reading. The winner was announced at the Annual Awards Dinner, held at the London Hilton Metropole Hotel. The University/College Award required nominations from individuals within management or non-contract catered sites who have had a huge influence on the provision of foodservice to students or the development of commercial operations such as the conference and banqueting market. Thanks are given to Clean Linen Services and Grosvenor Continental Beverages who sponsored the guest tickets.
