Impartiality and Partiality in Ethics – University of Reading
13 June 2005The Department of Philosophy at the University of Reading has been awarded a major research grant for a three-year research project in Moral Philosophy entitled 'Impartiality and Partiality in Ethics'. The grant, which comes from the Arts & Humanities Research Council (AHRC) and is worth over £200,000, will be devoted to the holding of international conferences and seminars over the next three years on this central topic in modern moral philosophy, with associated publications, and the appointment of a post-doctoral fellow and a doctoral student. The team who planned the application and will be involved in the project comprises Professor John Cottingham (Project Director), Professor Philip Stratton-Lake (Associate Director), Professor Jonathan Dancy, Professor Brad Hooker, Professor David Oderberg, and Mr Andrew Williams. Professor Oderberg said: "This successful result is a major recognition of the research status of the Department in moral philosophy, and the high profile events to be held will further enhance the reputation of the Department and the University of Reading."
