Open Days Will Open Your Mind! – University of Reading

Anyone looking to delve deeper into ancient history, brush up on their French, or crack the Da Vinci Code will find everything they're looking for when the University of Reading's part-time evening and daytime classes for adults kick off this Autumn. This year, the University's School of Continuing Education is running some 300 courses, and there is the opportunity to find out more at two open days on Saturday 9 September (between 10.00am and 2.00pm) and Monday 11 September (between 10.00am and 8.00pm) in Building 24 at the London Road campus. These days provide a wonderful opportunity to find out about courses in more detail and have a look around the London Road Campus. It's also a chance to have an informal chat with members of staff who will be on hand to answer any questions. Many of the courses last between five and 10 weeks (language courses last for 20 weeks) and there is a range of one-day events. Students have the chance to learn a new skill, explore an interest in greater depth or look to earn a formal qualification after a longer period of study. Prospective students have a vast array of subjects available to them in many different fields, including archaeology, literature, art and science. The School also offers a Certificate and Diploma of Higher Education in Management. The School of Continuing Education's Karen Brown believes the programme is bound to be extremely popular once again. "There are just so many fascinating and varied topics to choose from this year," she said. "You can learn to read music, have a go at writing the next hit sit-com, or be a real life Indiana Jones and go on an actual archaeological excavation! "Members of the local community have a marvellous chance to expand their knowledge in a favourite area or perhaps learn something new. "The University takes great pride in the success of the programme over the years. We receive so much positive feedback from past students saying how much they learnt and enjoyed their course. There really is something for everyone."
