03 April 2008On 10 April Progress South Central, the Lifelong Learning Network (LLN) for Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Surrey, will have its formal launch at the Carrington Building on the University of Reading's Whiteknights Campus.
The LLN addresses barriers to progression from vocational further education into and through higher education, by better understanding the needs of learners and employers and improving communication and co-operation between institutions in the region.
This key partnership is hosted by the University of Reading and includes Buckinghamshire New University, The University of Surrey, Oxford Brookes University and their partner colleges. It is funded by the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) from December 2007 to November 2010.
Professor Gordon Marshall, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Reading, will formally open the Project and guest speakers include Steve Billcliffe, Director of Development at Abingdon and Witney College, and Fay Croft, Director of Progress South Central.
Fay Croft said: "We are pleased to announce the formal launch of the partnership and look forward to working closely with the four Universities, their associated colleges, employers, learners and other organisations to ensure extensive learning development within the region."
