Prof Julia Slingo joins the Met Office – University of Reading

24 June 2008

The University of Reading would like to congratulate Professor Julia Slingo as she moves to take up the prestigious post of Chief Scientist at the Met Office. Julia has made an enormous contribution to the Department of Meteorology, and was the driving force behind the establishment of the Walker Institute for Climate System Research. Her appointment reflects not only extremely well on her reputation and work in the field of climate science, but also on the Walker Institute and the University's Meteorology department. We wish Julia every success in her new job. She retains a base at Reading, and we look forward to continuing to work with her.
