Farm to Pharma: The Rise and Rise of Food Science

9pm on Thursday. A Must Watch. Experts from the University's food biosciences department are interviewed for this BBC TV documentary that charts the growing role that food science has played in our daily lives.

The programme focuses on the role of food scientists in the food industry and their role in making the food products that society wants whilst keeping food production safe. Experts from the University were interviewed about new areas of innovation such as functional foods for gut health (prebiotics and probiotics) and for cognitive function (plant phytochemicals).
