Uni short courses bound to put a Spring in your step – University of Reading
09 January 2009Made a new year's resolution that makes the winter seem bleaker? Well how about making one that is fun, fascinating as well as fruitful, by enrolling on a short course at the University of Reading.
Over 200 new courses are included in the University of Reading's School of Continuing Education 2008/2009 programme. The Spring Term begins this January and offers the public the chance to enrol on courses ranging from learning Chinese or Practical Latin, to 'From Imagination to Words' where budding writers will get expert help and advice on how to develop those potential Booker Prize winning ideas.
If you found your voice was a touch rusty when singing those Christmas Carols, you can enrol on the enormously fun 'Evening choir; singing together 2' course, or perhaps you'd like to find out more about the authors who have shaped writing in England by joining 'How to be even better read – in ten easy lessons'.
Dr Eleanor Betts, University of Reading Director of Open Studies, said: "Every year, more than 2500 people from our local area join our courses, benefitting from the expertise of the University and high calibre teaching. Our courses are open to everyone – there are no entry qualifications - and are designed for both career and personal development.
"We hope that our students will enjoy the injection of contemporary topics into the portfolio this year. We want our courses to not only inspire and inform, but to offer an insight into what's happening in the world today. Every year, many of our courses fill up quickly, so don't leave it too late to enrol."
