Press Statement - School of Health & Social Care

Release Date 18 November 2010

In 2009, the University of Reading decided to close its School of Health and Social Care and no longer recruit to its undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in social work and counselling. Since then we have explored the possibility of transferring the courses and the staff who teach them to other universities in the region in order to meet local need. Unfortunately, we have been unable to find another home for the programmes and staff and therefore the School of Health and Social Care will close in September 2011 as previously announced. The University will continue to fully support all students currently completing their programmes in social work and counselling.
