University of Reading announces tuition fees 2012/13

Release Date 28 March 2011

The University of Reading has set its tuition fees for UK and EU undergraduate students starting their studies in 2012/13 at £9,000, subject to the approval of our Access Agreement by the Office for Fair Access (OFFA).

The University of Reading is one of the world's top 200 universities¹, with an enviable record of providing a high-quality student experience², one which the University is committed to upholding.

To sustain this level of support and investment for our students, in light of significant cuts in Government funding for universities, we will need to charge a fee of £9,000 across all our full-time undergraduate programmes. This will ensure we continue to provide our students with all the components of the highest quality student experience, encompassing excellent teaching, pastoral and financial support, first-rate extracurricular opportunities and world-class facilities and student accommodation.

The University of Reading exists to educate talented people, regardless of their background or financial means. We are committed to ensuring that ability and potential are the only criteria for entry to University at Reading and we will be developing a comprehensive package of financial support and outreach activity to ensure we continue to meet these objectives.

It is important to note that, under the new fees system, no student will be expected to pay tuition fees up front or during their period of study. Tuition fee loans are available to all and are only paid back over many (up to a maximum of 30) years once a graduate is earning more than £21,000.

Further information about the 2012/13 undergraduate fees can be found at www.reading.ac.uk/study/study-ug-fees2012.aspx
