Release Date 18 May 2011
The University of Reading is delighted to invite the public to a Community Open Event on Monday 23 May. This event is an opportunity for members of the local community to learn about some of the achievements and developments taking place at the University, and to meet senior University staff representatives.
The event will be held in the recently opened Minghella building on the Whiteknights Campus, the new £11 million home to the Department of Film, Theatre and Television. During the evening, guests will be able to learn about some of the work that takes place in the Department and will be taken on a tour of this fantastic state-of-the-art facility.
Pro Vice-Chancellor for International and External Engagement Professor Steven Mithen and other senior members of staff will be on hand to answer questions and explain current and future campus developments.
Professor Mithen said: "We are delighted to have a very healthy and fruitful relationship with the local community. This event is an excellent platform for the University to hear the views of our neighbours and engage in valuable discussion which will further strengthen those ties. We are very proud of the Minghella building and I look forward to welcoming local residents to this stunning addition to the Whiteknights Campus on 23 May."
The University of Reading is proud of the role it plays in the local community. It is one of the largest employers in the region and educates highly-skilled graduates, many of which stay on in the local area to the benefit of the region's economy.
The Community Open Event begins at 6.45pm on Monday 23 May, in Minghella Building, Whiteknights Campus (Shinfield Road entrance)
