Students' app to cut hospital waiting times

Release Date 25 November 2011

Two students from the University of Reading, International Relations and Economics undergraduate Wenni Gu, and Chris Alexander, who is studying for a Master's in Robotics, were invited to 10 Donwing Street and met the Prime Minister after winning a competition to design a mobile phone 'app' using government data.

Their app helps people find the best hospital to get the fastest Accident & Emergency department treatment, taking into account location, travel time and waiting times. For more details see here.

The pair were featured with other winners on Newsnight, BBC Breakfast News, and gave a live interview on BBC Radio Berkshire.
