Universities Week: Reading helps Britain's sporting best

Release Date 03 May 2012

Reading has a strong record of bringing on top rowers

As the University of Reading helps to mark Universities Week, which this year highlights the role universities play in backing British sport, watch two former Reading students and elite British rowers talk about their university experience.

Sam Townsend, who is aiming for Olympic glory in the men's double sculling at the London Games,  and Natasha Page, who competed in the women's rowing eight in Beijing in 2008, talk about how Reading helped them reach the pinnacle of sporting competition while also preparing them for life outside sport.

Reading has an excellent record at helping to bring on some of Britain's best rowers - Olympians James Cracknell, Debbie Flood, Cath Bishop and Adrian Ellison all studied here.
