On the anniversary of 9/11, Dr Christina Hellmich from the Department of Politics gives her expert opinion to prominent German news magazine Focus, on the threat posed by the 'organisation' Al-Qaeda

Christina says that after the twin towers attack, Al-Qaeda was 'smashed to a significant degree and, as a result, their priorities have shifted and its regional structure was transformed towards largely independent cells and lone wolves.'

Dr Hellmich is the author of 'Al-Qaeda: from global network to local franchise' and 'Knowing Al-Qaeda: The Epistemology of Terrorism"from global network to local franchise.'
