Release Date 30 April 2013
Ten of the University of Reading's academic subjects are ranked among the ten best in the country, according to the Complete University Guide 2014.
The University is ranked in the top five for Food, Land Management and Agriculture and also features in the top ten rankings for Archaeology, Art and Design, Aural and Oral Sciences (Clinical Language Sciences),Building, Marketing (BSc Consumer Behaviour and Marketing, School of Agriculture, Policy and Development) and Town and Country Planning.
Professor Gavin Brooks, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Teaching and Learning at the University, said: "I am delighted that the University can boast top-ten rankings in ten different subjects, demonstrating the strength in depth of teaching and research at the University. League tables should always be treated with a modicum of caution and they are no replacement for visiting academic departments and talking to staff and current students. However, they do provide a general demonstration of the levels of student satisfaction, research profile and employability at a university."
The University of Reading has an institutional level of student satisfaction of 88%, ranks among the top 1% of research-intensive universities in the world (Times Higher Education World Ranking 2012) and has 92% employability record¹.
The University has two undergraduate open days this summer on Friday 21 and Saturday 22 June 2013.
The University is ranked 37th in the UK overall in the league table. The subject specific rankings are based on levels of student satisfaction, research quality, entry standards and graduate prospects. In addition, the institutional ranking includes information on student-staff ratios, spending on academic services, facilities spending, good honours degrees, degree completion and overseas student enrolments.
