Reading rises to highest ever position in QS World University Rankings

University of Reading ranked 156th in the world and 25th out of UK institutions
The University of Reading has risen to its highest ever position in the QS World University Rankings published today (Tuesday 15th September).
Reading now ranks 156th in the world, up from 202 last year, and the first time it has been ranked in the top 200 since 2010 - putting the institution firmly within the top one percent of institutions globally.
Reading has also enhanced its position amongst UK institutions rising from 30th to 25th of the 75 institution ranked by QS.
The global league table of universities is one of several independent measures of international university reputation. The QS rankings judge institutions on their academic reputation, global outlook, and research strength, amongst other criteria. Updates this year to how QS calculates research strength through citations has boosted Reading's overall ranking and scores.

Other major findings in the QS World University Rankings include:
GLOBALLY
- 95th globally for international student ratio and 140th for international faculty ratio - showing how successful the university has been in attracting overseas academics and students
- 164th in the world for citations per faculty
- 170th internationally for employer reputation and 219th for academic reputation - based on the QS Global Employer Survey and QS Global Academic Survey. The University has seen a year on year increase in its global reputation both academically and with employers.
- 128th= in the world in Arts & Humanities. Other individual research areas rankings included Natural Sciences (245th); Social Sciences & Management (254th=); Life Sciences & Medicine (298th=) and Engineering & Technology (338th=).
UK
- 27th for academic reputation based on the QS Global Academic Survey.
- 19th for citations per faculty.
