Release Date 10 August 2016
Reading students have overwhelmingly said that they would recommend coming to the University to others, according to the 2016 National Student Survey published on today (Wednesday 10th August), with a 91% score.
Overall satisfaction among respondents was 87%, which is above the sector average of 86% for the fifth consecutive year. Results for individual questions on teaching, organisation and management, and personal development all met or exceeded national averages for 2016.
A University of Reading spokesperson said:
"Today’s students rightly have greater expectations and demand more from university than ever before and the latest scores from the 2016 NSS survey coming from the second cohort paying £9,000. It’s therefore all the more encouraging that 91% of our students would recommend the University of Reading to others.
"These are solid results. There have been year-on-year fluctuations across the sector so maintaining a consistently high overall satisfaction beating the national average each year over the five is important. We also have continued to exceed national averages in teaching, organisation and management, and personal development in the same time.
“The NSS is a valuable barometer for areas that the University needs to improve and we are not complacent – there is more to do.
“Following feedback from previous years, we have shown significant progress raising the standards for marking and feedback year on year, rising two percentage points in 2016. We are investing more than £200 million in a major capital investment programme to redevelop campus facilities for future students.”
“We are pleased to see an above average response rate of 74% from our students, and we take very seriously the voices of our students to help better shape an excellent university experience at Reading.”
