First cohort of students graduate from Henley Business School at the University of Reading Malaysia

The first cohort of students from the University of Reading Malaysia (UoRM) have graduated at the University's state-of-the-art purpose-built complex in EduCity, Iskandar Malaysia.
The 11 students who began their undergraduate programme in Finance and Business Management at Henley Business School Malaysia at UoRM in September 2014 were awarded a degree of Bachelor of Science on Saturday 22 July. Among today’s total of 22 graduates were 11 Malaysian citizens who completed a range of undergraduate and postgraduate degrees at the University of Reading in the UK.
A prize, courtesy of EduCity, was presented to a UoRM graduate, for completing their studies in EduCity, the education hub of Iskandar Malaysia. The Educity Award for Outstanding Achievement was given to Ooi Dai Jing, who achieved the best overall result from the cohort of Finance and Business Management graduates at Henley Business School Malaysia.
A speech was delivered on behalf of the graduates by Yonvindra Kanezin, who completed the Finance and Business Management programme at Henley Business School Malaysia.

Among the 200 guests were Sir David Bell, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Reading; Datuk Ir. Khairil Anwar Ahmad, the President/Chief Executive Officer of Iskandar Investment Berhad (IIB); and alumni of the University of Reading.
Sir David Bell said: “This has been a significant day for the University of Reading Malaysia and Henley Business School. We are proud to celebrate the inaugral cohort of graduates from Henley Business School Malaysia, at Reading’s first multi-discipline overseas campus, in EduCity, Iskandar Malaysia.
“It gives me immense pleasure to salute our new graduates for their diligence and tenacity in completing their studies with us. Through our outstanding teaching, I am confident that we have produced a new pool of talented and capable young adults who will become the leaders of tomorrow.”
Professor Tony Downes, Provost at University of Reading Malaysia, said: “The University is proud to reach this milestone of awarding degrees to our first cohort of students from the University of Reading Malaysia. I am thrilled to congratulate all our graduates today – those who studied at UoRM and those who completed their degrees in the UK.
“From the outset, the University has been committed to delivering first-class teaching, with the aim of giving our students the knowledge, skills and experience they need to excel. We believe we have shaped and produced a fine group of graduates who are well-equipped. I wish each one all the very best for their future endeavours.”
During the inaugural graduation ceremony, the University awarded an Honorary Degree of Doctor of Laws to Y.Bhg Datuk Ismail bin Ibrahim, Chief Executive of the Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA).
Datuk Ismail said: “I am delighted to receive an honorary doctorate from the University of Reading. It is a privilege to work with the senior leadership team of the University of Reading Malaysia in fulfilling our vision of building an education hub and seeing the delivery of world-class education in Iskandar Malaysia.”
