Menacing hurricanes, Brexit and electric cars - Reading in the news Fri 22 Sep

Here is today’s round-up of media coverage featuring the University of Reading.

Hurricanes and climate change: Professor Richard Allan (Met) is quoted in an article on the BBC News website looking at the relationship between climate change and the recent hurricanes which have hit Central and North America.

Dr Chris Holloway (Met) is also quoted in an article for Penn Live looking at the same subject, following the impact of Hurricane Maria on Puerto Rico.

UK weather: An article in the Mirror looks at suggestions that the UK will experience a period of warmer weather which could reach 24C. Dr Roger Brugge (Met) is mentioned noting that Sunday could be the hottest September day this year.

Brexit: Dr Mark Shanahan (Politics and IR) spoke to BBC Radio Berkshire (approx 2hr in) about a cabinet meeting held by Prime Minister Theresa May ahead of a speech on Brexit on Friday 22nd Sept in Florence. Dr Shanahan suggested that the PM is in a vulnerable position and is "walking a tightrope."

Electric cars: Yahoo News covers a report on the new scheme developed with the University of Reading which allows drivers of electric cars to be able to sell back energy to the national grid. The news is also covered in local papers.
