Global temperature extremes: Professor Richard Allan (Met) is quoted in reports in the Guardian, Daily Mail, Yahoo News, France 24, and other international news outlets about new research suggesting that the earth is unlikely to warm to the extremes that have been warned in worst-case scenarios. The study also suggests that the best case scenarios are increasingly unlikely.
Clouds and climate models: A guest post in Carbon Brief by Professor Ellie Highwood (Met) looks at how clouds may provide clues that can help us create better models for predicting climate projections.
French Literature and Politics: Dr Julia Waters (MLES) took part in a Radio 3 (approx. 30 mins in) ‘Free Thinking’ discussion on French Literature and Politics. Dr Walters spoke on a panel about a new production of Duras's L'Amant at the Lyceum, Edinburgh, and discussed the depiction of colonial Indochina in recent French literature.
New Universities Minister: Vice-Chancellor Sir David Bell has written an article for Times Higher Education about the reshuffle, and the challenge facing new universities minister Sam Gyimah.
