Reading names Moscow university as International Strategic Partner

11 February 2019

Professor Kalyzhnova meets representatives from MGIMO in Moscow

A leading Russian university specialising in political studies and international law has been officially confirmed as the University of Reading’s International Strategic Partner.

Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) has been in a strategic partnership with Reading since 2013, with a range of double Master’s degrees launched allowing students to study at and be accredited by both institutions.

Following the launch of double Bachelor’s degrees and a Double PhD programme in 2018 and an agreement to develop further collaboration, MGIMO was named International Strategic Partner. Professor Yelena Kalyuzhnova, Vice-Dean (International) of Henley Business School at the University of Reading, presented MGIMO with a certificate confirming the partnership in a recent visit to Moscow.

The certificate was presented to Professor Anatoly Torkunov, the Rector of MGIMO, and Dr Andrey Baykov, the Vice-Rector for International Programmes.

Vincenzo Raimo, University of Reading Pro Vice-Chancellor (Global Engagement), who visited MGIMO in November, said: “We are proud to be working in partnership with MGIMO, a university which shares our ambitions for global engagement, supporting students and researchers to collaborate, to share ideas and to learn from each other. The relationship with MGIMO is becoming both broad in subject spread and deep in terms of engagement from foundation to PhD study as well as research collaboration.”

MGIMO is one of Russia’s top universities, and an in-demand place for the study of politics and international relations, regional studies, and international law.
