#LockdownClimateChange: Lockdown has forced us to question our behaviour

30 April 2020

#LockdownClimateChange

Professor Chris Hilson, Professor of Law, and Director of the Reading Centre for Climate and Justice at the University of Reading, said:

“This crisis show that society is willing to embrace the moral, political and legal imperatives to act to save lives.

“This temporary hiatus – the closed airlines, empty roads and shopping malls, consumption reduced to the real essentials, video calls and home working – forces us all to question our previous way of life that perhaps we took for granted. Climate change, like coronavirus, will cause millions of deaths if we don’t take action now, and this crisis shows us just how much we can change our behaviour when we need to.”
