The University of Reading has moved up to 39 in the Complete University Guide 2021 rankings of UK institutions.

The rise in the league table of 130 ranked UK institutions, up from 40 in the previous year’s guide (2020) firmly maintains the University of Reading in the top third of the table. The rankings take account of a number of metrics, such as research quality and intensity, and spending on academic facilities and services.

The Complete University Guide 2021 also includes a subject league table, and the University of Reading has continued to see subject areas ranked in the top 10 in the UK, including:

  • Land & Property Management – 2
  • Building – 5
  • Agriculture & Forestry – 7
  • Aural & Oral Sciences – 8
  • Town & Country Planning and Landscape Design – 9
  • Food Science – 9

Professor Robert Van De Noort, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Reading, said:

“I am pleased to see that this latest league table reflects the University of Reading’s position among the leading UK universities, and this position sets us up for delivering a top quartile position by 2025.

Of course, the best evidence of our success comes from the example of our staff, students and graduates who are doing something about some of the biggest challenges that the world is facing, from climate change to COVID-19.

"I am immensely proud that our community is having a positive impact on the world, and we will continue to do what we can to provide an environment for all to flourish and continue that impact in the future.”
