Reading’s strong international outlook reflected in latest THE World University Rankings
02 September 2020
The University of Reading has maintained its position as one of the most globally-focused universities in the world, ranked in the top 100 for International Outlook in the new THE World University Rankings 2021.
Reading was ranked 81 for International Outlook – calculated based on its numbers of international staff and students, and international research collaborations – in the new rankings, published today (Wednesday 2 September).
Reading was again ranked in the 201-250 group in the world overall, out of 1,527 universities ranked worldwide. It retained its position in the top 30 UK universities out of the 101 ranked, where it is ranked equal 30.
Paul Inman, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (International) at the University of Reading, said: “We are pleased to once again be recognised for our diverse student and staff communities, which represent cultures and ideas from all over the world, as well as our excellent research, teaching and engagement.
“Maintaining this strong international outlook remains a priority for Reading, even in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic and as the UK charts a new course outside the EU. Both of these will bring challenges in maintaining strong global links.
“However, we are committed to retaining and increasing our work with international partners to keep teaching and research standards high and helping students to gain experience of the world outside their own countries of origin. Through these international collaborations, British universities such as Reading can help change lives for good.”
