Café Théologique: “Faith in the Shadow of Grenfell”
Monday 29 April, 19:30-21:00 - in Zero Degrees Bar, Bridge Street. Rev Dr Mike Long, minister to the Methodist church next door to Grenfell tower, reflects on the tragedy and the Church's response. As a result of his work in the local area Mike was appointed the housing charity Shelter's chair for their commission on "a vision for social housing". Café Théologique is a venue for discussing issues of theology in the modern world, co-hosted by the University of Reading Chaplaincy and the Bishop of Reading.
Albert Wolters Public Lecture – Consciousness, Autonomy and Responsibility
Thursday 9 May, 20:00, G11, HBS, Whiteknights campus World-renowned Professor Daniel Dennett has been awarded the Albert Wolters Visiting Distinguished Professorship by the School of Psychology and Clinical Language Sciences. Join Professor Dennett as he discusses the concept of autonomy as self-control. Admission is free and you can book your place here.
Wolfenden Lecture – Our Trans Lives: life, love and Lorraine

CRAFTERNOON and Event Planning
Tuesday 14 May, 14:00–16:00. An opportunity to meet colleagues and discuss future Women@Reading events whilst sharing crafting hobbies and potentially become inspired to learn new skills.
Fairbrother Lecture – Women’s Voices: From Slavery to the #MeToo Movement

Join Elizabeth Barnes as she recounts her research journey through the history of this wave of revelations and explores how the pattern of progress followed by sustained backlash continues to be felt today. Big Band Big Lunch
Saturday 1 June, 12:00-16:00, London Road campus. The University of Reading invites all members of the University, their families and local community to come together as part of the national Big Lunch initiative at our annual Big Band Big Lunch. Admission is free and you can find out more here.
Growing your Confidence
Monday 17 June, 13:00–14:00. A talk by Professor Tricia Riddell to discuss what is different in situations where we do and do not have confidence and how we might use this learning to help grow our confidence when we need it.
