Study Smart course starts third run
Thursday, 29 August 2019
Foundation and Part 1 students newly arriving to study at the University received their invitation to take our successful online course, Study Smart, on Tuesday 27 August. This online transition to university course, developed exclusively for our students by the Study Advice and Open Online Courses teams, is in its third cycle. Engagement has increased year-on-year as colleagues have become more familiar with the course and have promoted it to their new students.
There are some key updates to ensure Study Smart remains fresh and timely. New videos have been filmed with both our Vice-Chancellor, and our newly refurbished Library in starring roles. We have developed prompts to encourage even greater student interaction on the discussion boards. The Study Advice folding year planners have also received a complete redesign thanks to student Harry Grove on the Typography Real Jobs scheme; they now have a prominent Study Smart logo to help advertise the course.
Feedback shows Study Smart is successful because of endorsement by colleagues, so please do encourage your new Foundation and Part 1 students to enrol on the course (enrolments remain open until the end of Week 6) and also encourage students in all years to collect their free year planner from the Study Advice and Maths Support desk on the ground floor of the Library.
