Health and Life Sciences building update
Thursday, 29 August 2019
Colleagues who have passed by the site will not have noticed much change to the outside of the building but on the inside it’s a different story. All floors now have their interior walls installed creating rooms and the lay out of the building. Linked to this, the interior fit out is well underway (see below) with the controlled environment rooms being finished (see here for comparison). Also, services are being brought to point of use and large apparatus e.g. fume cupboards are being installed.
Prof Rob Jackson, Head of School, Prof Phil Dash, Director of Teaching and Learning and Alan Twyford, Senior HR Partner recently had the opportunity to visit the site. Rob said:
“It is fantastic to see the building take shape internally as the labs and offices are fitted out. It's very exciting to see the opportunities for future working, being able to visualise how the building will support our world class research and teaching, bringing our staff and student community together. The quality of workmanship is excellent, and I can see that it will be a fabulous place to work.”
With the completion of layout inside the interior fit out of the building can proceed with the project scheduled to be completed in early 2020. The project demonstrates the University commitment to 2026: TRANSFORM capital investment programme, with £60m being invested to bring about closer integration of the school.
