Staff car parking limited during Graduation on 12 and 13 December

Graduation

Winter 2019 Graduation celebrations will be held on Thursday 12 and Friday 13 December this year.

The University will be welcoming thousands of visitors, with more than 900 cars expected on each day, and we will therefore be reserving car parks 1A and 2 for Graduands and their guests at Whiteknights as well as the Whitegates car park at London Road.

This means that parking for staff on both campuses will be extremely limited. We are therefore asking all other staff who work on the Whiteknights or London Road campuses, and who usually drive, to review their usual working and travel arrangements for Thursday 12 and Friday 13 December.

Work from home

For those staff who usually travel by car, don't have any meetings planned, and who are set up to work from home, are strongly encouraged to talk to their managers about working from home on the Graduation Days.

For those staff who need to come to campus and for whom driving is the only option, there will be parking available for staff in our halls, on a first come first served basis. Car share with colleagues where you can.

There will always be parking space in the main campus car parks for disabled members of staff who hold a blue badge.

Robert Van de Noort, Vice-Chancellor said:

"Firstly, I would like to thank each and every member of staff at the University who works hard to make Graduation the positive and celebratory days that they are.

Graduation is an important event in the academic calendar, where graduands and their guests come together to recognise and celebrate their award. At Graduation, students become alumni, whose support is invaluable to each new generation of students who come to study with us. It is really important that we make their graduation day as special as possible for them.

Therefore we are asking again for the cooperation of our staff, and in particular, in asking you not to drive to the Whiteknights or London Road campus unless it is really necessary. Please do consider and plan your working arrangements for 12 and 13 December now."
