Health and Life Science building - laying of new cables
Thursday, 19 December 2019
Work on our new Health and Life Sciences building is progressing well. Colleagues who have passed by the site will have noticed hard landscaping to the exterior and the installation of cycle shelters. Internal works and service installation is continuing and some with decoration and painting completed in many areas.
To allow certain work to proceed two new high voltage cables need to be laid. This will mean that the road between the site and car park 13 will be closed from Monday 6 to Tuesday 31 January 2020. The area where the road will be closed is marked in red in the photograph below.
Please note, therefore, that the normal entrance to car park 13 will be closed during this time. Entry to the car park will instead be via the north entrance (adjacent to the Harry Nursten building). Access to the Energy Centre (building 210 on campus maps) will be uninterrupted throughout these works.
Construction on the Health and Life Sciences building is scheduled to be completed in 2020. The project demonstrates the University commitment to 2026: TRANSFORM capital investment programme, with £60m being invested to bring about closer integration of the school.
