Provision of generic exams feedback approved by UBTLSE for 2018/19 onwards

Tuesday, 26 February 2019

Teaching group in computer lab

Following a successful pilot last summer, generic exams feedback will be rolled out across the University this year. The Policy on providing feedback to students on their performance has been revised accordingly.

SDTLs and Exams Officers are responsible for implementing exam feedback. Colleagues in Support Centres will assist Module Convenors by providing a template form and timeline for submission. They will also upload each form to the relevant area on Blackboard, to be published at the same time as, or shortly after, the corresponding exam marks are released. Students will be notified by email when feedback is available.

For the benefit of students who enrol on a module in subsequent years, feedback forms will be ‘rolled over’ to the following year’s iteration of the module on Blackboard, up to a maximum of five years.

The Centre for Quality Support & Development (CQSD) will be running a training event for colleagues in Schools to share good practice from the pilot exercise and provide advice on completing the feedback reports. This is scheduled for Monday 25 March from 2-3.30pm. For more information and to register your attendance, please click here.

We would like to thank the members of the Feedback on Exams Implementation Group, along with colleagues in Support Centres and the pilot Schools for their hard work to reach this milestone. Exam feedback has been consistently requested by students in surveys and focus groups and we anticipate that this development will be welcomed by our student community.

If you have questions or would like further information, please contact Professor Katja Strohfeldt (Teaching & Learning Dean).
