Module selection for 2019/20
Thursday, 31 January 2019
Students who are returning for the 2019/20 academic year will soon receive an email asking them to make their module selections on the RISIS portal.
Key dates
- Module browser (for returning UG students only) will be available 8 – 23 April
- Module selection (for returning UG students) will be open 24 April -7 May
Students must submit their preferred module selections on the RISIS portal before the deadline on 7 May. If they do not submit their selections before the deadline, their choices might be limited particularly when optional modules are capped (i.e. restricted numbers) and due to timetabling clashes (timetables are set according to students’ selections made).
Online module selection is not available to returning PGT students who are part-time or on flexible modular programmes. These students should refer to Programme Directors for their module choices and contact moduleselection@reading.ac.uk so that selections can be added to their record.
How you can help
The Module Selection-academic role in the process flowchart sets out the process and your role in supporting this. If you are a Programme Director, Module Convenor or Academic Tutor, your guidance and advice is extremely important to students and we greatly appreciate your assistance in helping students to make their selections during this time period. You may want to consider running a timetabled session during the Spring Term for students in your School/Department to remind them of the module selection process and discuss module options.
Support for staff in Schools
Support Centres will work with Schools to prepare ahead of this period. Programme Managers will be on hand to help out with this, working directly with Programme Directors. If you have a query about module selection, the Programme Managers in your School will be able to assist:
