National Meadows Day at Langley Mead
Friday, 05 July 2019
Join us for a celebration of National Meadows Day at Langley Mead, from 10:00 to 16:00 on Saturday 6 July 2019. Ecological Planning and Research (EPR) staff and the Langley Mead ranger will be on hand to explain how the land is being restored from agricultural use to a traditionally managed floodplain meadow.
Come and learn about the plants and wildlife that are now thriving here, and the management techniques being used to promote biodiversity. Guided walks around the nature reserve will take place at 11:00 and 15:00. Dogs are welcome.
National Meadows Day, an annual celebration of our wildflower meadows and their wildlife is held on the first Saturday of July. A single healthy meadow can support over 80 species of wildflowers, but there are only 1,500 hectares of lowland hay meadow remaining in the UK. National Meadows Day encourages people to visit, enjoy and learn about their local wildflower meadows and grasslands and raises awareness of their importance.
