EU student funding continued for 2020/21
Monday, 03 June 2019
Universities Minister Chris Skidmore has confirmed that EU students starting courses in England in the 2020/21 academic year will have guaranteed home fee status. Financial support, at both undergraduate and postgraduate level, has also been guaranteed for the duration of their courses. This includes loans.
This extends the guarantee already in place for those commencing their studies in the 2019/20 academic year. The government also confirmed that it would provide sufficient notice for prospective EU students on fee arrangements ahead of the 2021/2022 academic year.
The Brexit working group, led by Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Global Engagement Enzo Raimo, continues to oversee the work being done to prepare the University for the UK’s departure from the EU – including implications for current and prospective students and colleagues, research and procurement.
Colleagues who are EU citizens are encouraged to register for the EU Settlement Scheme, which will enable you to make an early application for a UK immigration status to live and work in the UK. The cost of the application fee, where applicable, can be claimed as an expense in the normal way. You can find out more about how to do this on the Staff Portal.
