Academic Tutor System recognised as 'sector-leading'
Tuesday, 04 June 2019
Our Academic Tutor System (ATS) was described as ‘sector-leading’ by the UK Advising and Tutoring Group (UKAT), following a presentation on ‘Transforming Academic Tutoring: A Collaborative Work in Progress’ by Jess Johnson and Amanda Millmore at this year’s UKAT conference.
The presentation reflected on our collaborative journey so far, working in partnership with staff and students to review the former Personal Tutor System and devise and implement the ATS. A number of other institutions are currently undertaking similar reviews and we were pleased to have the opportunity to share what we’ve learned.
In May we also hosted a visit from colleagues at King’s College London who were keen to find out more about our work on the ATS to inform their own tutoring review.
While we are pleased with the progress made this year, we are mindful that there are further improvements that could be made to make the ATS as effective as possible. The project team are currently working on a full evaluation, informed by feedback from students and colleagues, and we will share further information later in the summer.
