Head of School vacancies: Law and Humanities

Friday, 01 March 2019

University shield

The University is inviting applications for the posts of Head of School for Law and the School of Humanities for the next six years, from 1 August.

The roles are open only to internal candidates and offer a good opportunity for colleagues within the school, and across the University, to develop their careers by taking on academic leadership and managerial role.

The Head of School is responsible for providing the School's academic leadership, and will also contribute to the broader leadership within the wider University.

In a message to potential applicants, Mark Fellowes, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Academic Planning & Resources) says, "The role of Head of School is quite simply both highly challenging and highly rewarding. There is no underplaying just how important it is. A Head of School must be many things to many people, providing support and guidance, but directing where necessary."

More information on the roles, including job description and person specification, is available in the link below:

  • Head of School – Law
  • Head of School – Humanities

The University is committed to having a diverse and inclusive workforce and we welcome applications where a flexible working pattern and/or a job share is proposed. Specifically, we welcome applications where it is proposed to take up the role as half of a job share (and no indication is needed as to who the other half might be). We also welcome coordinated applications from two separate members of staff proposing to undertake the role as a job share.

Your application will require the submission of a statement of suitability and interest (1000 words max) and the attachment of an up to date CV by Wednesday 20 March.
