Retention of HR Excellence in Research Award
Tuesday, 12 March 2019
We are pleased to announce that we have retained the HR Excellence in Research Award for a further two years following our eight year review. The award is an important mechanism for implementing the principles of the Vitae Concordat to Support the Career Development of Researchers. In retaining this award, we have demonstrated our long-term commitment to the career development of researchers.
The feedback from our peer reviewers highlighted the evident commitment to the principles of the concordat, and “evidence that the University of Reading consults widely, listens and then implements”. The renewal of the award contributes to strengthening our support for the development of research staff, and in particular early career researchers, at the University of Reading.
The reviewers were also excited about our development of the principal investigator (PI) and post-doctoral research assistant (PDRA) handbooks, which clearly state the responsibilities and expectations of these groups of people. The PI handbook can be found on the Research Staff Development and Training webpage and the PDRA handbook on the Research Staff Induction page. The development opportunities available to all research staff are listed on this page.
