Library Refurbishment Update
Tuesday, 19 March 2019
The Library refurbishment continues, following the final handover of the foyer (which is now hosting the Language for Resilience exhibition). Work continues on the refurbishment of the 2nd floor with access to all books remaining as far as possible. As the project progresses work will begin on the exterior, with access to the building changing over the next few months. Further updates about this will be posted here.
The temporary walkway will remain in place to access the Library building. This will allow landscaping work to be undertaken next to the Library entrance. This new walkway (marked on the image in blue) will be slightly further away from the building. This will be used when approaching the Library from the direction of Palmer quad or Whiteknights House. Access from the direction of the URS building remains the same. The area marked in red is where the landscaping work will be taking place which should be completed at the start of May.
Works are continuing which may sometimes involve noise and disruption. You can use the quiet and silent study spaces in the Library@URS building, as well as a variety of alternative study space options across campus. A full guide on the availability of study space across the campus can be seen here: Study space update.
The refurbishment forms part of the University's ambitious 2026: Transform capital investment programme, which focuses on improving campus facilities and supporting the student experience.
