Stonewall LGBT Role Models Programme
Thursday, 28 March 2019
The University is delighted to offer up to 6 sponsored places on the Stonewall LGBT Role Models programme. This one-day programme, which runs several times a year in an open programme format, in London and other cities across the UK, gives individuals the opportunity to explore what it means to be an LGBT role model and the space to identify how they are going to create an inclusive environment for everyone. The programme offers:
- Insight into and understanding of what it means to be yourself
- Understanding what it means to be an LGBT role model and ways to ‘step up’
- Active listening skills and techniques for having productive conversations
- Practical ways to step up as an LGBT role model
- Increased motivation and confidence to be a visible and influential role model
- A network of LGBT peers from across a range of sectors and communities
Please see the Stonewall LGBT Role Models programme website for full programme details. Applicants for funding for this programme are required to commit to:
a) attending one of the open programme sessions that Stonewall runs some time before 31 July 2020 (currently Stonewall is advertising dates in June and September 2019; dates later in 2019 and in 2020 will follow in due course);
b) reporting back, e.g. through a joint #DiverseReading blog from the various participants, on lessons learnt from the programme;
c) applying the lessons learnt as a LGBT role model back in the University.
The funding available covers registration fees plus up to £50 towards travel expense costs, claimed in the usual way.
