Hourbike Limited, the operators of the ReadyBike bicycle hire scheme since its inception have decided to terminate its contract early, with a one month’s notice, citing financial pressures.

Reading Borough Council are currently investigating other successful bike hire operators to operate ReadyBike and further information will be announced over summer. Cycle hire is key for Reading’s future transport strategy and opportunities regarding e-bikes will also be explored.

If you are looking for bike hire over the Spring and Summer term, Reading Bike Kitchen (held fortnightly on Wednesdays 16:00-19:00) have second hand bicycles for sale. Alternatively, RUSU loan recycled bicycles by the term/year via the Unicycle scheme.

More information on bike hire and cycling can be found here.
