Join focus groups to develop our next Gender Equality Action Plan
Tuesday, 21 May 2019
Our University Athena SWAN Self-Assessment Team (SAT) – meet us here! – are preparing our next Athena SWAN submission for the end of November. This involves reflecting on where we are currently, informed by quantitative and qualitative data, and then developing a gender equality action plan for the next four years.
As a key part of examining where we are and developing this action plan, as we previously announced we are seeking volunteers to join focus groups on areas where we need to dig deeper. We are really keen to have your input and details and timings of these focus groups are below. To sign up or for more information please email the SAT lead indicated.
Flexible working, 29 May, 10:00-11.30. Contact: Rachel Greenwood
The aim of this focus group is to explore perceptions and experiences of staff concerning the University’s policies, culture and attitudes in relation to flexible working. We’re keen to collect experiences from widely across the University, from staff in Schools and staff in Functions across a variety of career stages, and in relation to both formal and informal flexible working arrangements.
Personal titles (academic promotions): How are the new procedures working? 3 June, 11:00–12:30 Contact: Aleardo Zanghellini
New Personal Titles (that is, academic promotions) Procedures were introduced in 2016 to improve transparency and fairness in academic career progression at the University. The Athena SWAN team is looking for volunteers who would be willing to take part in a focus group discussing the new promotion procedures and how well they respond to the needs and experiences of different applicants, including by reference to gender and ethnicity. We are interested in feedback from both successful and unsuccessful applicants at different stages of their academic career.
Head of School experiences of how regrading and rewarding staff processes are working 30 May, 10:00-11.30. Contact: Deepa Senapathi
