People Plan Programme - UoRLearn
Wednesday, 29 May 2019
As a response to your feedback, through the staff survey and focus groups, People Development, together with learning teams from across the University have introduced a new Learning Management System. It is called UoRLearn and replaces Trent learning for staff learning and development. As such you can no longer book on to learning and development via Employee Self Service. Instead you can find UoRLearn here.
Please note you’ll need your University email address and password to log on.
You may also now be receiving emails generated by UoRLearn (uorlearn@reading.ac.uk) if you are booked to attend any learning events. These are not spam emails, however if you do have any concerns please contact the UoRLearn project team to confirm they are authentic.
Colleagues from across the University have been helping to test UoRLearn and we caught up with Stephanie May to hear a bit more about how the new system works:
“I was interested to see what the new system looked like, so I volunteered to test it as an individual user, line manager and HR employee. These three roles allowed me to make a contribution to the process of development from different points of view.
“As a manager being able to see what training your team has done is really useful. This could be especially helpful in the PDR process as an ongoing management tool. It will help with spotting skill gaps to create learning opportunities for individuals’ development for their current roles and future careers.
“There are several benefits to the new system, one of which is that all learning, and especially mandatory learning, is in one place which means as a new person (or a line manager) you don’t have to spend time hunting around for individual bits of training. The search function is much more user friendly and you will be able to discover courses that are relevant to your development but that you hadn’t realized were available. The current system allows you to book a course but UoRLearn is more than an online booking system, it delivers learning itself as well.”
Stephanie May is the University’s Pensions Manager.
This is part of a series of articles updating the activity of the People Plan Programme in which there is a summary of the project to date as well as a personal view from one of those involved.
