ndergraduate Research Opportunities Programme

UROP projects are showcased over the summer.

Researchers - could your work benefit from collaboration with undergraduate students?

The (UROP) offers undergraduate students the chance to gain hands-on research experience on projects covering all disciplines across the University.

Applications are now being accepted for collaborative research projects between academic departments and undergraduate students.

The programme provides undergraduates with an opportunity to gain research experience through a paid six-week project during the summer vacation. For researchers, it is equally rewarding - collaborating with undergraduates can produce a fresh perspective on research and can help develop students into promising candidates for postgraduate research.

The deadline for applications is 17:00, 20 December 2019.

information session for staff

An information session will take place on 6 November 2019 (13:00-14:00) to provide an informal opportunity to find out more about the scheme.

Places can be booked via UoRLearn (just search for ‘UROP') or by emailing urop@reading.ac.uk.

UROP Showcase event, 13 November 2019

A showcase of UROP projects completed over the summer will be held on 13 November 2019, 13:00-15:30 in the Meadow Suite (Park House), Whiteknights campus.

If you're interested in applying to the programme, the showcase is a great chance to hear first-hand from students and researchers involved with UROP research projects.

Now in its fifteenth year, UROP has supported over 700 undergraduate research projects.

As a researcher, you can apply to be a Principal Investigator on UROP projects - to qualify, you must be a permanent member of staff, or on a fixed-term contract running past November 2020. Post-Doctoral Research Assistants can apply to be Principal Investigators if their supervisor is listed as a Co-Investigator, and PhD students may co-supervise projects only.

Visit reading.ac.uk/urop for further details, or email urop@reading.ac.uk for advice on applications or information on the scheme in general.
